Donald looking to create winning streak

World number one Luke Donald was feeling confident going into the star studded Memorial tournament in Ohio based at the Muirfield village golf club.

Donald says he is still on a high from his BMW PGA championship victory and hopes to continue his momentum into this tournament to leave himself well placed going into the months US Open which he is looking to improve on his career best of tied thirteenth.

The Englishman from Hemel Hempstead who retook the world number one space from current US Open champion Rory McIlroy has been chasing a Major victory for some years and says that winning the Memorial tournament would give him a psychological edge on his fellow world top ten golfers.

After their opening round Donald is levelled with McIlroy but the British pair are still behind American Tiger Woods who seems to have recaptured his form and who may be the one to watch coming into the US Open. Success here would be a real marker as only three of the top ten have not made the competition, as with so many of the games top players there this is a real indication of form and a good guide for anyone looking to make a bet on the US Open.

Donald has been on great form this year and as usual looks a touch of clash, British golf fans can only hope that he is able to translate this game into a major championship tournament so that he can finally break his duck and secure the major he deserves. At thirty four there is still plenty of years left on his career and if he continues to play as he has done recently surely it can only be a matter of time before he bags that Major championship victory.
