German golfer Martin Kaymer, who holed the popular putt to cap off Miracle at Medinah, is all set to leave Europe and compete on USPGA Tour in 2013 season. In early 2011, the twenty seven year old player reached the number one position for a short span of time. He ended the 2012 season in a strong way as he won the Nedbank Challenge event in South Africa after a difficult season.
But his 5-yard putt to grab the Ryder Cup title for Europe started his run back into form at the end of the year. Martin Kaymer joins the likes of other European players such as Nicolas Colsaerts, Justin Rose, Graeme McDowell, Peter Hanson, Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy in making the switch to the United States.
While speaking to the reporters before the Abu Dhabi Championship, the German golfer told that this is the right time. It might have been too early when he was 23 or 24 years old. Now he feels as if he would try it out how it feels, knowing now what is going to happen in the United States, where he has played several times – majors and World Golf Championships. He is living in Arizona, he feels comfortable, but needs to know the culture more.
He added that for me this was the perfect time. He did not feel like the world number one when he was actually the world number one.
