McIlroy to play at the Scottish Open

Rory McIlroy, the Irish golfer, has given the Scottish Open a big boost by including himself in the event. Next July, it would be Rory’s very first to Royal Aberdeen and this would be the very first time when 2 major champs will take part in the event since ending joint 46th behind Martin Kaymer in the year 2009. Rory stated that Royal Aberdeen is a great place to play golf. This decision will certainly please both the title sponsor of the event Aberdeen Asset Management and the European Tour.

Rory added that he does not think that he got his schedule right, taking his time off before The Open in the last few years and this is the kind of tough connects course he need to play to get in the right frame of mind for Hoylake.

At a crucial time when the European Tour fields’ strength has weakened seriously by golfers focusing on the PGA Tour, Rory has also added both the Irish Open and the Dubai Desert Classic on next season’s schedule.

The twenty four year old golfer told that he was really pleased to be able to compete a bit more in Europe. Omega sponsors the Dubai event and they are the one who also sponsor him; therefore, he has a very good reason to play there. This year it was mistake from his part not to play. He would play whether Omega were involved or not.
