The Monday scramble seemed to have been fruitful for two contestants in different championships.
While Justin Thomas was able to secure the title for the PGA Tour and gain his fifth title of the season, Stacy Lewis was able to break the drought of winless games she had been participating in and win it for her hometown Houston.
As the FedEx playoff events are narrowing down, many are moving closer to the final champion title that would be decided at the final event, the Tour Championships. Justin Thomas himself moved a step towards this goal with the 63-66 score that he achieved at the end of the Dell Technologies Championship.
There are other close contenders in the series who are coming close to being in the top positions for the final champion position. Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth are definitely two names in the games and they will be looking to stay close to Thomas so that they can steal the position of Player of the Year with the coveted ten million prize money.
The other feel good story is the win that Stacey Lewis obtained at the Women’s British Open. This has been a win that came dear after five years; there was also a charitable angle to this win as Lewis made a selfless gesture that has warmed the hearts of thousands of her fans. She donated a sizeable chunk of her prize money to the Houston flood relief organization which was a great gesture on her part. She was also relieved to have obtained this win after a long time. Indeed, she admitted that the run of winless games had been on for so long for her that she had forgotten what it was to win. She was not sure that she could do what needed to be done at the last moments of a winning match, it had been so long.
