The 21 year old Englishman faced tough challenges from the very beginning and there was no surprise when he ended the first round where he had at the Binhai lake Golf Club in the city of Tianjin in China.

Having started the round very early in the morning, the 21 year old made three consecutive pars in the first three holes that he played. Then, his performances waned somewhat and having carded a double bogey, he slipped in the standings and into the danger zone, with every possibility of not making the cut.

The fifth hole was somewhat better than the other and Lewis shot a birdie but when he registered two more bogeys along with just one birdie, it was inevitable that he would end the first nine holes with a dismal 38. Plenty of fans had thronged the course and there were plenty of journalists covering the event from all over the world and Tom Lewis, considered as one of the brightest young prospects in the world of golf failed miserably to live up to his expectations or that of the crowd when he put up such a mediocre display.

Lewis finished the events of the first round by hitting a birdie, taking his score to 4-over 76 and at the end of the day’s play; he was tied at 143rd in the standings.
Having turned professional just last year and with already a major European Tour crown to his credit, a lot many things are expected of the 21 year old Englishman Tom Lewis but if his performnace on the first round are the signs of things to come, we can expect another Folwer instead of a Woods.
